Child Development
There are two fundamental functions our neurology provides - seeking and protection. These functions are recognisable in organisms that scale from the single cell Amoeba to us. Even plants compete using seeking and protective behavior. This behavior is expressed in children as reflexes.
As children develop their learning is layered on top of these genetically "hard wired" reflexes. If there is dysfunction the ability for learned skills to integrate is compromised. Children will create adaptations which can be quite complex and pull on most of the childs resources. These adaptations can develope into we recognise as ADHD, Dyslexia etc.
Dysfunction at the level of the reflexes usually will have mechanical (Cranial / Structural Integration), Neurological - Emotional (MNRI / BIT / EnK) and/or Nutritional (Trace Elements) components. As the "stress" in the reflexes is released the adaptations may automatically disolve, or the child may need to "discover" that they can now accomplish what they had thought was not possible for them.
It is important to challenge Children when doing this work with them, because as soon as the reflex neurology starts to integrate all of the assumptions about them need to be questioned. It is not uncommon for change to not unfold simply because of the assumption that the change was not possible. | Testimonials
S. is doing pretty darn well in school. He is happier now - when he comes home, I have a little boy who hums to himself. I saw him on a field trip day and he seems to have three friends in the class. Three real friends that he can hang out with. This is untoward wealth for him.
His reading is improving and improving. He reads faster and more fluently.
Yesterday he sat down in a restaurant and did one of those word search things where you circle the words. One of the words was backwards and diagonally. He has NEVER done one of those puzzles before. Scott checked and he got everything correct.
His handwriting is still terrible, and his focus is still lacking, but he's in a far better place now than he was 6 months ago. Thank you.
